
Alan Schulman

Alan Schulman was born, raised and educated in the Bronx. He has worked for the NYC public schools as an educator, administrator, special projects developer and coordinator since 1968. He has been an organizer and an activist for parent/neighborhood-led community control of NYC Public Schools for more than 50 years. Over the decades Schulman has helped coordinate People Against Racism in Education, The New York Anti-Klan Network, People United Against Racism and Political Repression, the International Bridges Project and most recently Democracy At Work New York and The Cooperation Jackson Support Network. Schulman has been a consultant to the Ministries of Education of Cuba, Zimbabwe, China and the European Union. He is currently on the Coordinating Committee for the Development of the Center for Critical Thought.
